I am definitely not an expert in this field but am working hard to clean up my eating habits. I’ve employed the help of meal plan specialists and have been having food for my breakfast, lunch and snacks delivered. I am hoping that by following this plan I can motivate myself to eventually purchase these foods and maintain the serving sizes.
We eat pretty healthy most of the time. Don’t have take away very often and I try to always have lean cuts of meat and vegetables. The meal plan has highlighted to me that it’s my service sizes that are the biggest problem. I am just hungry all the time though and trying to push through. Probably should have left Quitting Diet Coke until later but I generally don’t do things by halves.
Today for morning tea I have these stunning strawberries. Their colour was so red they inspired me to take a photo and then get writing.

Did you know strawberries are good for your muscles, your brain, your heart, and it lowers Blood Pressure. Th help in preventing the development of cancer and even aid in improving cognitive processes. Not only that they are delicious.
Now I’ve done heaps of ready in my research of healthy eating over many years. I’m always working on my health journey and found some helpful tips recently.
- Stay away from processed foods.
- Eat more vegetables, fruits, legumes and whole grains.
- Portion sizes. I read a tip somewhere to use a bread and butter late instead of a dinner plate to help have a better portion size.
- Drink Water. While most websites recommend 2 litres I find my body needs a little more than that to keep hydrated.
- Limit refined foods. Pretty much avoid anything white. Go for the wholegrain and brown varieties.
- Eat a variety of whole fresh foods.
- Eat slower. Take your time to enjoy every mouthful.
- Try to avoid stress. Easier to do than said sometimes. I use mindfulness to help with my stress levels.
- Daily exercise. Make yourself move every day.
There is so much information out there. So many different types of diets.
My tip for those who are interested. Take one day at a time. Try to make good food choices and find an exercise you like to do. Try not to be too hard on yourself. I know it’s easier said than done. One Nutritionist said to me “Rachel it took a lifetime for you to put this weight on. It’s going to take a bit of time to get it off.” I’m pretty impatient but trying to channel her philosophy.

Ooh those strawberries look amazing and yes it does take a while to lower your weight but keep working at it and I am sure you’ll get to your goal.
