Burnout, Fatigue and Self Care

I’ve just attended a session hosted by my wok place on Burnout, Fatigue and Self Care. This time of year is definitely one of the most stressful. Normally I would be stressing about whether or not a family member would ruin everything. I have decided this year not stress about that. If they turn up great but if they don’t then so be it. I will spend time with the people who want to spend time with me.

Gone are the days when I would organise everything, provide all the food and then spend the afternoon crying as they complained about everything and didn’t help to clean up.

So here we are. On the reset path looking for quality moments to fill our cup.

I’ve burnt out once. It took me three months to find myself again. It means I can recognise the signs and am betting at giving myself some care. I’ve definitely got some go to’s for self care. How about you? What do you to ground yourself and fight off stress and burnout.

  • I love music. All kinds. I’m not a music snob. I’ll listen to whatever makes me feel good in the moment.
  • Mindfulness is a great tool to ground yourself. Five minutes focusing on your breathing can help distract your thoughts.
  • Relax in a nice hot bath. Feel all your worries soak away.
  • I will often get the ball out and go throw it with Coco. Pets are great for mental health. They love you unconditionally.
  • Read a book. I’m an avid reader and like to escape into fiction books. I particularly enjoy fantasy and murder mysteries.
  • Go out. Stand in the sun or the rain. Get some fresh air.
Chanel your inner child.
