#13 – 50 things for 50 years

Country Music Capital of Australia!

We are Country Music fans and have always wanted to visit Tamworth. The dream is to attend when the festival is on and one day we might. We called in to Tamworth for a couple of nights on our way home.

After getting drenched setting up the van the next day was much nicer, and our first stop was the Big Golden Guitar.

As well as the Golden Guitar we visited the Country Music Wax Museum, the National Guitar Museum, and the Australian Country Music Hall of Fame. Outside the Hall of Fame, we walked the Roll of Renown and Galaxy of Stars.

I think my favourite was the Wax Museum. It was established in 1983 but was moved to its current location in 1988. It was opened by Slim Dusty. There were quite a few old-time singers I didn’t know and some of our favourites. Fun Face – we met at a Lee Kernaghan concert!!
